The Liberal Democrat Group has expressed shock and concern at the news that there could be more cuts to posts and frontline services in the County Council's budget. A report released by the Council shows that the savings the council will need to find over the next 4 years could increase from £66m to £88m and could be as high as £94m by 2014/15. The increase is the result of the anticipated Comprehensive Spending Review due to be announced in October.

The Liberal Democrat Group has responded to recent reports about Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP) in the East Midlands and specifically one in Leicestershire. Whilst no final proposal has been made, the Liberal Democrat opposition group has highlighted its initial view.

The Liberal Democrat Group on Leicestershire County Council has welcomed a U-turn by the Conservatives to give a temporary reprieve to a number of Home to school bus routes. In paper to next Tuesday's Cabinet, it is recommended that Home to school transport is not cut pending a Scrutiny review of the current eligibility criteria.
